Gilt Trip

My Living Room, South Colorado Springs

Somewhere in the middle of Covid quarantine, I slightly lost my mind and painted my living room metallic sun gold. I thought, “what the hell? If I hate it I can paint it a respectable grey.” My brother walked in for the first time and said, "Whoa, there, Liberace."

He was not wrong. I am not sorry.

This room was decades in the making — antiques, family heirlooms, my own finds from years of hunting. The result is less a decorated room and more a self-portrait: layered, a little extra, and absolutely all-in.

I adore this space, filled with the relics of my life. It amuses me. It’s mine.
