THE GARDEN ROOM
North Colorado Springs
This was one of my first client projects, and it was more fun than I could have hoped. My fabulous friend Jen wanted a guest room that felt calm and uncluttered — somewhere people could relax. No busy walls, no visual noise. Just a room that felt good to be in.
For no reason at all I started calling it The Garden Room almost immediately. It could possibly have influenced the floral themes.
Jen is the queen of thrifting, and she kept turning up beautiful pieces along the way — the kind of finds that make a room feel curated and not decorated. A sewing table that had been in her family for years anchored the space with exactly that kind of quiet history. And the iron bed? We weren't touching that. Its magnificent!
The result is exactly what a guest room should be: quiet, easy, special.
A reupholstered pewter grey corduroy velvet chair and ottoman with the coolest feet -- a Jamie Grandy Designs custom!
This room has the ideal amount of natural light. Sunny, but restful all day long.
The antique sewing table was a family heirloom. I placed it here, to look out in to the all important garden.
Jen found these amazing German crystal lamps at an estate sale. I made custom shades once we picked the dizzying array of florals on the cushions.
Jen didn't want any artwork on the walls when we first started. Near the end of the project she picked this cute painting of Paris.
